Glenore Long Powers, 77, of Gaston, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2014.

She was born in Halifax County to the late Eugene Nicholas and Bessie Martin Long.

Glenore was preceded in death by her husband, L.H. Powers; her son, Ronnie Wayne Martin; her sister, Maggie Walls; her brothers, Jamie Long, Johnny Ray Long, and Richard Long.

She is survived by her sons, Tot Powers and his wife, Kay, of Roanoke Rapids, Jimmy Powers and his wife, Vickie, of Gaston, and William Patrick and his wife, Lynn, of Montpelier, Ohio; her brother, Charlie Long and his wife, Bernie Mae, of Roanoke Rapids; a special friend, Mary Harris, of Roanoke Rapids; 10 grandchildren, Jessie Medlin and his wife, Tracy, Timmy Ott and his wife, Jen, Christi Brantley and her husband, Brian, Heather Hux and her husband, Tony, Courtney Hammack and her husband, Jeremy, Lee Powers and his wife, Brooke, Brent Powers and Whitney Hagen, Alyssa Grant, Megan Edmondson, Erin Gilcher and her husband, Ryan; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services, with Rev. Henry Stephens officiating.

Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services and other times at 407 Huey Street, Gaston, NC.
